Timberland has donated £16,000 to spend on project work in Malealea. ( Information about Timberland)
In addition Timberland are providing clothing and footwear for members of the 2007 expedition and for the trecking and pony guides at Malealea Lodge.
Plans to provide fuel efficient stoves that will burn smoke free in the traditional rondevals are underway. These will create a smoke free environment and reduce soil erosion as less wood will need to be harvested.
Engineers from ARUP ( Information about ARUP) here in Sheffield are supporting this part of the expedition with their technical knowledge to design the stoves.
A beautiful calendar has been produced based upon the 2007 expedition. Perhaps you would like to purchase a copy. The price is £5.00 and the proceeds will all be used to support the Malealea Community.
